I am herewith presenting the final scientific program for the 16th Annual Conference of the Indian College of Cardiology 30th & 31st October and 1st November, 2009, Lucknow. The theme of the scientific program is “Evidence to Application”.

I have tried to cover wide range of subjects which are of interest to the practising cardiologists. Common problems like Systemic Hypertension, Heart Failure, Acute Coronary Syndrome and Sudden Cardiac Death are dealt in detail. Controversial issues are addressed in the Point – Counter Point sessions. There are special sessions dealing with Decision Making Issues and Management Grey Zones. These two sessions will definitely help to clear some of the cobwebs in the minds of the delegates.

In the interventional field No Reflow in Primary PCI, Coronary Artery Restenosis, Cath lab nightmares – how to manage, Pediatric Interventions and Electrophysiology interventions have been included. I have also included the latest developments in the drug management of pulmonary Artery hypertension, Drug eluting balloon, Percutaneous aortic valve replacement, 3D transthoracic echo and RAAS blockade. There is a free paper session in which young investigators are presenting their research material.

We have six international speakers from various disciplines of cardiology to bring the international expertise to the conference.

I am bringing out a book “Cardiology 2009”, consisting of the important lectures in the scientific program. This will be useful for future reference.

Innovation, advances and new techniques never come to an end in the field of cardiology. I have tried to open up just the tip of the iceberg.

The scientific program is now in your hands and you are the best judge.

Dr. Pravin Goel, the Organizing Secretary of the conference, is putting in maximum effort to organize the conference in the best way possible. I am quite sure under his able leadership the organizational aspects of the conference will be impeccable.
